“WHEN THEY TOOK TO THE STAGE, IT WAS A CASE OF MEN AND BOYS COMPARED TO WHAT HAD GONE BEFORE. FRONTMAN JESS HARNELL GAVE US A MASTER CLASS IN SHOWMANSHIP. FROM THE OPENING BARS. LOOKING MAJESTIC IN A WHITE SHIRT AND COWBOY HAT, HE COMMANDED THE STAGE LIKE THE SEASONED PROFESSIONAL THAT HE IS AND THIS WAS A DAMN NEAR PERFECT PERFORMANCE. AFTER TELLING US IT WAS THEIR LAST SONG, THEY WENT STRAIGHT INTO “ENTER SANDMAN” BY METALLICA.. A FEW BEMUSED LOOKS AS IF TO SAY ‘ODD CHOICE’ BEFORE THEY THEN LAUNCHED INTO JOURNEY’S “DON’T STOP BELIEVIN’” WITHOUT MISSING A BEAT. WOW! NOW I’VE SEEN SOME THINGS BY SOME BANDS IN MY TIME, BUT THIS WAS A MASTERSTROKE. IT WAS A SEAMLESS SWITCH THAT SAW THEM SWAP BETWEEN THE TWO SONGS UNTIL THEY FINISHED AND THE PARTY WAS OVER IT’S HARD TO BELIEVE WITH SONGS OF THIS CALIBER THAT THEY AREN’T YET A HOUSEHOLD NAME. I THINK I CAN SAFELY SAY THAT THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST PERFORMANCES AT A FIREFEST EVER.”
